The business case for sets is straightforward — the production complexity is not
Brands add abaya sets for two reasons: a higher average order value, and a product that sells in gift seasons. As an abaya set manufacturer we see the pattern repeat against individual abayas sold one at a time. A customer who buys a coordinated abaya and hijab set spends more per transaction and returns fewer pieces, because the colour-matching decision has already been made for her. For Eid, Ramadan and wedding-guest collections, sets are the format buyers reach for first.
The production challenge that makes sourcing sets difficult is shade consistency across different fabrics. An abaya in nida crepe and a matching hijab in chiffon absorb dye differently — the same Pantone reference can produce a visibly different result on each fabric under retail lighting.
Most factories that offer “matching sets” dye the fabrics in the same batch without pre-testing this, and the result looks matched in the factory and mismatched on the shop floor. We test dye both fabrics against each other under retail-simulated lighting before committing to bulk production.
Buyers who specify “same colour” on an abaya/hijab set without clarifying fabric-specific dye testing almost always receive pieces that look slightly different when photographed together. We flag this at the inquiry stage and resolve it in the sample phase — not after bulk goods arrive.

Ready-Stock Sets or Custom Sets?
Search for abaya sets wholesale and most of what comes up is ready stock from Dubai and Turkey: fixed designs and colours, packed in size runs, sold from a handful of sets. That is the right route for some buyers, and we would rather say so than sell you the wrong thing.
| What you need | Ready-stock wholesaler | ModestRise — custom sets |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum order | Often a single size pack or around 10 sets per colour | 50 sets per style and colour, sizes mixed |
| Design and colour | What is in the catalogue | Your design, your colours, your fabric pairing |
| Colour match between pieces | As supplied — you see it when it arrives | Both fabrics dye-tested against each other under retail lighting before bulk |
| Your label | Rarely; the design may be sold to other shops | Private label; OEM designs yours alone for 12 months, in writing |
| Timing | Ships from stock in days | Sample in 7–10 days, bulk 30–40 days after approval |
| Best for | Testing a few styles in a new shop | A brand building its own set range for Eid, Ramadan or weddings |
What shoppers say about sets — and what it means for your spec
| What shoppers say | What to put in your set specification |
|---|---|
| “The first one blends in too much with the abaya/dress. The rose colored hijab is best.” — choosing a hijab for an abaya, r/Hijabis | Customers struggle to pair colours themselves — that is why a set sells. Decide whether the hijab is a tonal match or a deliberate contrast, and approve both on a physical shade band. |
| “I’ve purchased many abayas and 2 piece sets from her and they are of great quality. The sleeves can be a little tight if you have chubbier arms.” — r/SistersInSunnah | Even well-made sets lose customers on fit. Specify upper-arm and cuff width per size, not just chest and length, especially if you sell extended sizes. |
Which Abaya Set Format for Which Occasion
Six set formats, chosen by occasion, retail price point, and whether the inner pieces also need to sell as standalone SKUs.
| Format | What is in the set | Where it sells | Production note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Closed abaya set | Full overhead closed abaya + rectangular or square hijab | The highest-volume format for Gulf and Southeast Asian buyers | Easiest to run in high quantities; reliable shade match across the run |
| Embroidered set | Embroidered abaya (cuff, hem or full panel) + plain or lightly embroidered hijab with a smaller version of the motif | Eid and occasion ranges | Adds 7–10 days |
| Kimono abaya set | Open-front kimono abaya + hijab or inner dress | Western modest fashion brands — the layered look photographs well as one outfit | With an inner dress it becomes a 3-piece: about 5 days more |
| Luxury / crystal set | Crystal- or bead-embellished abaya + evening hijab | Premium Eid gifting and occasion wear | Highest unit cost and longest lead time; usually the highest-margin SKU |
| Linen casual set | Relaxed linen-blend abaya + headscarf in the same fabric | Summer collections for Western and Southeast Asian buyers | The most reliable dye match in the linen range |
| Mother & daughter set | The same abaya in adult and children’s sizes (age 2 up), cut from one fabric batch | Growing in the Gulf and UK, especially for Eid | Adult 50 sets + children’s 50 sets minimum |
Fabric Pairings and How Hard They Are to Match
In a set, the fabric question is not only which fabric — it is whether two or three different fabrics will come out the same colour. This is how the common pairings compare.
| Pairing | Look | Dye-match difficulty | What we do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nida crepe + nida crepe | One fabric throughout; clean and consistent | Low — the easiest set to match | Standard shade check |
| Linen blend + linen blend | Natural texture, casual, breathable | Low — slight tonal variation reads as texture in earthy shades | Standard shade check |
| Chiffon + chiffon | Light and flowing; suits kimono and open-front sets | Low for the chiffon pieces; an inner dress in jersey or satin lining adds a second fabric to match | Test dye the lining if there is an inner dress |
| Nida crepe + chiffon | The most popular pairing; the weight contrast balances the outfit | Medium to high — the two absorb dye at different rates; hardest in pale neutrals | Side-by-side test dyeing before bulk |
| Korean crepe + satin | Matte against sheen, for occasion and evening sets | Medium — two different fabrics | Test dyeing before bulk |
| Your own combination | Any pairing from our range | Depends on the fabrics | We tell you before sampling if a pairing is high-risk for shade, not after bulk |
Quality Control — Where Set Production Goes Wrong
Sets have two quality failure modes that single-piece abayas do not: shade mismatch between pieces and packaging inconsistency. Both are preventable with the right process.
Shade Match Between Components
An abaya in nida crepe and a matching hijab in chiffon absorb dye differently — the same Pantone reference can produce a visibly different result on each fabric under retail lighting. We dye both fabrics against each other and check them side by side under retail-simulated lighting before committing to bulk. Where the mill can supply it, the whole set is then cut from a single fabric batch.
Set Completeness at Packing
Every set ships as a complete unit — abaya, hijab, and any belt or inner piece — with the piece count verified twice, once at the packing table and once at carton sealing. Multi-size and multi-colour orders are packed sequentially by shade band rather than pulled from one pile, so a size M abaya never leaves the floor with a size L hijab.
On top of the shade and completeness checks above, every set order goes through our standard AQL 2.5 final inspection, with defect thresholds agreed in writing before production. If a lot of sets falls outside them, we remake it or agree compensation as confirmed on your order. If your market or buyer needs a third-party inspector, we book the visit into the calendar before the run starts — SGS, Bureau Veritas and Intertek have all inspected on our floor.
Ordering Abaya Sets for Ramadan and Eid 2027
Most set buyers are selling into one date. In 2027 that date is unusually tight: Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February 2027, and Chinese New Year falls on 6 February 2027. Factories across China wind down in the weeks before the holiday and freight space tightens at the same time, so sets that are not packed by mid-January risk missing Ramadan sales.
Counting back from 15 January 2027, using our own lead times:
| Set type | Factory time, sample to packed | Start the sample no later than |
|---|---|---|
| 2-piece set, stock fabric and colour | Up to 50 days (7–10 day sample + 30–40 day bulk) | 26 November 2026 |
| 3-piece set (abaya, hijab, inner dress) | Up to 55 days (+5 days) | 21 November 2026 |
| Embroidered or crystal 3-piece set | Up to 65 days (+7–10 days) | 11 November 2026 |
| Any of the above in a custom Pantone colour | Up to 80 days (+10–15 days for dyeing) | 27 October 2026 |
These dates do not include the time you need to approve the sample, or shipping, which depends on destination and is quoted with your price. For Eid al-Adha (expected around 16 May 2027) the same lead times apply, with no holiday in the way. Islamic dates depend on moon sighting and can move by a day.
Planning the Size Run and Packing for a Set Order
In most sets the hijab is one size, so the size run sits on the abaya and, in a 3-piece set, the inner dress. Fifty sets means 50 hijabs in one size and 50 abayas split across your sizes. One way to split a first order, as an illustration only — base yours on your own sales:
| Size | S | M | L | XL | XXL | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sets | 7 | 13 | 14 | 10 | 6 | 50 |
Many abaya shoppers buy by length in inches (52, 54, 56, 58) rather than S–XXL. Tell us which system your customers use, and give us the upper-arm width per size as well — fit at the sleeve is where sets lose customers.
Packing decisions to make before production
- One pack or separate pieces? If the hijab will also sell on its own, it needs its own label and barcode, not only the set’s.
- Polybag or gift box? A gift box suits Eid gifting, but it adds carton volume and therefore freight cost. Decide before you compare quotes.
- Carton mix. One size per carton suits a warehouse; a mixed size run per carton suits stores that take a few sets each.
What You Can Customise on an Abaya Set
For custom and wholesale abaya sets alike, the set format is the first customisation decision. Beyond that, every element of the individual pieces is adjustable — the same options as our standalone abaya and hijab ranges.
2-piece or 3-piece: abaya with a matching hijab, an inner dress, or both. The format is the first decision, because it sets the price point and the gifting story.
Closed, open-front, kimono, embroidered or luxury. Every style we make as a single abaya can be the base of a set.
Rectangle, square, pre-sewn or pleated, cut from the same colour as the abaya or a deliberate contrast you approve on a shade band.
Fitted or relaxed, with your choice of neckline and length, so it also sells as a standalone piece.
Tie, buckle or wrap, always fabric-matched to the abaya so the set reads as one outfit.
Embroidery on the abaya with a matching motif on the hijab edge; crystals and beads for occasion sets.
Pantone matching with multi-fabric test dyeing, so the abaya, hijab and inner dress match under shop lighting.
Mother-and-daughter sets from age 2 upward, graded on a kids’ block; the children’s range carries its own 50-set minimum.
Tissue wrap, ribbon and branded gift box, packed as a complete set ready for Eid and Ramadan retail.
Woven labels on each piece and your hang tags, so every component carries your brand, none carries ours.
OEM vs ODM vs Private Label for Abaya Sets
Three routes to your own set range, with different levels of design control and different lead times. All three start at 50 sets per style and colour.
| OEM — Your Own Design | ODM — Modify Our Base Sets | Private Label | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you supply | Tech packs for every piece in the set | A selection from our abaya and set library | Your labels, hang tags and gift packaging |
| What we do | Pattern, source and dye-test the full set before sampling | Change fabric, colour, hijab format or embellishment, with dye-match testing included | Label and pack a proven set style |
| Development time | 2–4 weeks for patterns, then a 7–10 day sample | 7–10 day sample | Label artwork only |
| Who owns the design | You — yours alone for 12 months, in writing | You own your version; the base stays ours | The base style is shared; the label is yours |
| Best when | Your set design is the point of difference | You want speed to market with lower risk | You are a retailer testing sets without development investment |
Which route most set buyers take: private label is the fastest way to put sets on the shelf, but a coordinated set is easy for a competitor to copy when the base is shared. If your Eid or Ramadan set is meant to be the reason customers come back, plan the second collection on ODM or OEM.
