Most factories make modest clothing the way they make conventional womenswear — adapting existing patterns, skipping opacity tests until a buyer complains, and sourcing the swimwear from a subcontractor whose colour cards never match your abaya dye lot. ModestRise manufactures modest wear exclusively: eight categories built on modest-specific patterns, opacity verified on the assembled garment, and colour-matched across every style on the same order.

When to Place Seasonal Orders

Modest clothing has five demand peaks, and each one has its own deadline. Miss the window for one and you wait a full year for it to come round again.

SeasonMain categoriesLatest order dateNotes
Ramadan
typically Feb–Mar
Prayer Dress, Abaya, Co-Ord Sets, Hijab45–60 days before Ramadan start
i.e. order in December–January
Embellished and embroidered styles need an extra 2–3 weeks for setup. Fabric stock for main Ramadan colourways held year-round.
Eid al-Fitr
typically Mar–Apr
Abaya (open & cape), Eid Outfits, Hijab, Family SetsEarly–mid February latest for plain styles
embroidered styles: late January
Q1 is the most congested production quarter. Embroidery and cape-style capacity fills first. Plain-fabric styles can still be confirmed in mid-February.
Eid al-Adha
typically Jun–Jul
Abaya, Prayer Dress, Kids Sets, Eid OutfitsLate April for standard styles
embellished: mid-April
Production slots are less congested than Eid al-Fitr. Gulf market (Saudi, UAE, Kuwait) is the dominant volume driver — confirm colour and fabric by April at the latest.
Back-to-School
Aug–Sep
Hijab, Prayer Dress, Modest Sportswear, BurkiniMid-June for bulk
samples by late May
Malaysia and Indonesia are the highest-volume markets for school-season prayer wear and hijabs. Burkini demand peaks in Jul–Aug for UK/EU/AU summer — confirm by early June.
Year-Round Restock
any season
Basic Abaya, Co-Ord Sets, Hijab, Modest Sportswear35–50 days ahead
no advance slot booking needed
Standard in-stock fabrics ship within standard lead times. No seasonal queue — order when your stock level triggers a reorder. For custom colourways outside the main palette, allow an extra 7–10 days for dyeing.

Dates assume standard in-stock fabric. Embellished styles (embroidery, beading, cape construction) add 2–3 weeks — factor this into your deadline. Islamic calendar dates shift approximately 10 days earlier each Gregorian year.

One Supplier for Your Whole Modest Range

Most modest brands juggle three or four factories — one for swimwear, one for jersey basics, one for abayas — each with its own minimum, lead time and quality standard. Every extra supplier adds a label to approve, a shipment to clear and a failure point you cannot see until the goods land. One factory removes all of it. We operate as the single muslim clothing supplier for your full modest range.

Modest clothing is not a sideline here. It is the whole business. Every pattern maker works on modest fit daily — coverage that holds in daylight, sleeves that stay put when the arm lifts, hijab draping that does not collapse, swimwear that moves without clinging.

What You Can Customise — Every Dimension We Control

A custom Muslim clothing order — custom islamic clothing included — is a stack of separate decisions, not one. Below is every dimension we can change, with the note that usually decides it.

Dimension Options we produce Practical note

Anything outside this table can usually still be done — send the specification and we will confirm what is feasible, what it adds to the price and what it adds to the lead time before you commit.

OEM vs ODM vs Private Label for a Muslim Range

Buyers use these three terms interchangeably, and it costs them — in money and in weeks. Each is a different commercial arrangement, with a different minimum, a different development timeline, and a different answer to the question of what you actually own at the end.

OEM — Your Design ODM — Customise Ours Private Label
Who designs itYouWe hold the base, you modifyEither — label only
What you supplyTech pack, measurements, fabric specReference garment or style selectionLogo artwork
Minimum50 pcs per style50 pcs per style50 pcs, including branded packing
Who owns itYou, exclusivelyYou own your version; base stays oursBase shared; label is yours
Best whenYou have a difference worth protectingYou want speed to market at low riskYou are testing demand before investing

An honest note on private label: it is the fastest and cheapest way to launch, and the most fragile position to hold. If your garment is a stock base with your label sewn in, a competitor can buy the same base and undercut you. That is a good way to test a market — it is not a business. Brands that survive their second year almost always move from private label to ODM and then to OEM, because that is where the product stops being interchangeable.

Not sure which route fits your situation?

No design yet — want to test demand first → Private Label. Use a stock base and add your label. Lowest entry cost, fastest to market. Move to ODM once you have sell-through data.

Have a reference garment or design brief, want speed → ODM. We own the base block, you modify it. No pattern fee, shorter lead time than OEM from scratch.

Have a tech pack and want exclusive ownership → OEM. Pattern developed to your spec, locked to your account, never produced for another buyer.

Still unsure? Tell us in the inquiry form and we will recommend the right route before any money is committed.

What Do I Need to Provide? — Starting Point by Route

You do not need a tech pack to get started. Tell us what you have below and we will confirm the right route before anything is committed.

Starting From an Idea

Sketch, mood board or reference photos

A rough sketch, a saved image, photos of something similar, or a voice note describing the design — any one of those is enough to start. Our pattern department maps it onto a block we already own and you see a physical sample before any bulk commitment.

Best route
Private Label or ODM — we adapt our base block to your brief
Have a Sample to Copy

A garment you already sell or carry

Ship or courier us the physical garment, or send detailed flat-lay photos with measurements. We reverse-engineer the pattern in 2–4 weeks and send a test sample. The adapted pattern belongs to you after your first order — we do not produce it for anyone else.

Best route
ODM or OEM — reverse-engineered, locked to your account after first order
Design Is Ready

Full tech pack with BOM and grade rules

You have construction sheets, fabric specification and grading rules. We produce straight to your spec with no development detour. The pattern is locked to your account from day one and never produced for any other buyer — exclusivity confirmed in your order agreement.

Best route
OEM — full exclusivity, your pattern, your label, from the first order

How an Order Runs — Ten Steps From Brief to Shipment

Every order follows the same ten steps. Timings assume a first order; reorders on an archived specification skip steps 3 to 8 and run in roughly half the time.

Enquiry & brief
Send your spec, reference garment or tech pack, plus market, target price and delivery date. We reply with fabric options and indicative pricing within 8–12 hours.

Category & style selection
Choose from 60+ existing blocks across the eight categories, or send your own design. We confirm which route suits your volume before any money is committed.

Pattern development
Our pattern department builds the block from your tech pack, sketch or reference garment. This is where fit is decided and the longest step on OEM work: allow 2–4 weeks.

Fabric & trim sourcing
We propose fabrics against your specification and target price, and send swatches. Certified, recycled or specific-composition fabric is locked here.

Lab dip & colour approval
Colours are dyed to Pantone and submitted as lab dips, usually 5–7 days. Nothing is cut until you approve in writing — colour is the most expensive thing to fix later.

Proto sample
A physical proto in 7–10 days once pattern and fabric are settled, with measurement points marked so your fit comments are unambiguous.

Fit revisions
Two rounds are included at no extra charge, each running 5–7 days. Further rounds are charged at cost, and we will say when a comment is chasing diminishing returns.

Size grading & size set
We grade the approved block to your curve and cut a size set so the smallest and largest sizes are checked for proportion, not just the middle size.

Bulk production & inline QC
30–45 days from sample approval, with inline checks through cutting and sewing, a 3-point inspection at 30% completion, and shade and opacity verification.

Inspection, packing & shipment
AQL 2.5 final inspection, photographed and sent before the balance falls due. If a third-party inspection is required by your market or your buyer, we cooperate with the nominated agency and schedule it into the production calendar before the run starts — SGS, Bureau Veritas and Intertek have all inspected on our floor. Then labelling, packing to spec, export cartons and shipment DDP or FOB.

Pattern Fees, Revisions and Who Owns the Design

Pattern fee. On ODM work there is no pattern fee — you are customising a block we already own and we carry its cost. On OEM work we charge a one-off $80–250 per style to develop the pattern, grade it and cut the first proto, credited back against your production order once the style passes 300 pieces.

Revision rounds. Two rounds of fit revision are included with every sample, each covering unlimited comments within that round. Most fit problems are solved in one or two rounds; beyond that the issue is usually the original brief rather than the pattern. A third round is charged at cost, typically $30–60.

Copyright and ownership. On OEM, the design, the pattern and the graded block are yours exclusively — we do not produce it for another buyer, list it in a catalogue, photograph it for our marketing or resell the pattern. On ODM the base block remains ours, which is what makes the low minimum and short lead time possible, but the version you develop — your fabric, colourway, trim and branding — is not sold to another buyer as-is. On private label the base is shared. We are happy to put this in writing on your order confirmation; ask rather than assume.

Fabric Guide — What Each Modest Fabric Actually Does

Fabric is where most of a modest garment’s cost sits and where most of its perceived value comes from. If your market needs a composition that is not on this list, send the specification and we will source against it.

Fabric Weight Handle Best for Price tier
Nida160–200 g/m²Matte, fluid, wrinkle-resistantClosed abayas, prayer dresses, volume ordersEntry–Mid
Korean Crepe170–210 g/m²Denser, softer, better recoveryOpen abayas, boutique lines, setsMid
Chiffon60–90 g/m²Sheer, light, needs lining or layeringHijabs, layered abayas, evening overlaysMid
Cotton-Modal Jersey180–220 g/m²Soft, stretchy, breathable, no sheenJersey hijabs, everyday sets, loungewearEntry–Mid
Swim Knit (PBT / Nylon-Elastane)190–240 g/m²Four-way stretch, chlorine resistantBurkinis and modest swimwearMid–Premium
Polyester-Elastane Interlock200–260 g/m²Moisture-wicking, four-way stretchModest activewear, sport hijabs, leggingsMid

Opaque or not? That single question decides whether you can reorder, and no weight number answers it. Take the same 150 g/m²: a nida in a dark colour is fully opaque, a chiffon is not, in any colour at all. Swim and activewear get the same test wet as well as dry. We run it on the assembled garment, before bulk cutting — never after.

Sizing and Measurements — How We Grade Modest Garments

Modest clothing is sized differently from conventional womenswear, and getting this wrong is the most common reason a first order underperforms. In Gulf markets, abayas and prayer garments are often ordered by length rather than dress size — a 54, 56 or 58 — and the customer knows her number without measuring. Western and Southeast Asian markets use UK, US or EU sizing. We grade to whichever curve your market uses and can hold two curves on the same run.

Send either a spec sheet with your measurement points and tolerances, or your best-selling garment measured flat with the points marked. If you have neither, we build a grading set from our standard modest block and send it for approval. Our range is XS to 3XL with extended sizing to 5XL, and custom grading to your own curve is included free. We work to ±1 cm on garment measurements and ±0.5 cm on stretch-knit panels at rest.

Before bulk cutting we make a size set so the smallest and largest sizes are checked for proportion. Grading errors almost never show in the middle size — they show at the extremes, where a badly graded sleeve becomes too tight to raise an arm.

Pricing: MOQ and Lead Times by Category and Tier

Indicative FOB pricing, China, in USD per piece, for a standard construction in a mid-tier fabric. The final number is confirmed from your specification, because fabric weight, lining, embellishment and construction move the price far more than volume does.

Category 50–199 pcs 200–499 pcs 500–999 pcs 1000+ pcs

Open / kimono abaya$19.50$17.10$15.30$13.90

Inside the price: fabric, cutting, sewing, finishing, your woven label, care label and hangtag, individual polybag and export carton. Outside it: freight, import duty and any local testing your market requires. On DDP terms we quote one landed number with duty included. Sample in 7–10 days after specification is confirmed; OEM development adds 2–4 weeks; bulk runs 30–45 days; reorders on an archived specification run 15–20 days. Embellished pieces should be booked 8–12 weeks ahead of Eid.

Muslim Dress Collection

Reference styles across our full modest clothing range. All customisable by fabric, colour and embellishment from 50 pieces OEM and ODM.

Quality Control — Modest Garment Specifics

Opacity. Checked on the assembled garment, not a swatch, and on swim and activewear checked both dry and wet. A fabric that passes on a 15 cm swatch can fail across a full-length panel, because light passes differently at scale and tension across the body changes fabric density. This runs before the balance of the order is cut, so a fabric that fails is replaced rather than shipped.

Shade consistency. We cut a single order from a single dye lot wherever supply allows and strike a physical shade band you approve in advance. Where one lot cannot cover the order we cut and pack sequentially from each lot rather than mixing panels across lots — mixed-lot panels are the most common cause of the complaint that a set “looks like two different colours indoors”.

Coverage in movement and hem levelness. Modest garments are worn in motion, so we check the assembled garment on a fit mannequin for sleeve ride-up, hem pull and neckline gap. Hems are checked hanging, never on a table, because a hem that measures level flat can hang visibly uneven through grain deviation in a bias-cut panel. Final inspection runs to AQL 2.5 with thresholds agreed in writing, and every inspection is photographed before the balance falls due.

What happens if the final inspection fails? If the AQL 2.5 inspection reveals defects above the agreed threshold, we rework or replace the affected pieces before the balance payment falls due. The balance is only requested after you receive photographs showing the issue is resolved — not before. Partial-lot defects are documented per unit with photographic evidence before any rework begins.

Who We Build Custom Collections For

Modest fashion brands

50–200
pieces per style

50–200 pieces per style, 2–4 styles per drop. For a label buying across modest categories the test is simple: can the customer find this piece anywhere else, does the fabric feel worth what they paid, and does the finish hold up in their own photos. Most move from ODM to OEM by their second collection.

Wholesalers & distributors

300–2,000
pieces per style

300–2,000 pieces per style on repeat for wholesale muslim clothing, often across several categories on one PO. Priority: consistent unit cost, identical reorders and predictable delivery dates so shelves never empty.

Online retailers & boutiques

100–500
pieces

100–500 pieces, usually private label with retail-ready gift packaging. They want a garment that photographs well out of the bag, packaging the customer keeps, and a minimum low enough to test one style.

Eid & seasonal collections

Fixed date
one large single run

Large single runs on a fixed date across family and children’s ranges. Hitting the date is the whole job, and embellishment capacity goes first. Confirm 12–16 weeks before Eid.

Shipping a Custom Order — DDP, Duties and Payment

Shipping. DDP door to door, with import duty calculated and inside your quotation from the start. One landed number, and nothing to reconcile at customs after the goods arrive. If you would rather clear your own goods, we also work FOB Shanghai or Ningbo, and CIF. Air freight runs 7–12 days door to door; sea freight 25–40 days, depending on where you are. And because all eight categories come off one floor, a mixed order goes out as one consolidated shipment — on freight per unit, that is usually the biggest saving on the whole order.

Duties and export markets. We ship to the Gulf, the UK, Europe, North America, Southeast Asia and Australia, and we know what each of them asks for — commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, plus the textile labelling and fibre-composition rules at destination. Modest garments sit under the HS codes for women’s woven or knitted apparel. The rate moves with destination, fibre composition and garment type, so we confirm the classification line by line, in writing, before you agree a price.

Payment. 30% deposit to begin production, 70% before shipment. The balance falls due when your goods are finished, inspected and photographed — not on a calendar date, and not before you have seen them. Bank transfer (T/T) as standard; PayPal and card for sample fees. Documents go out in the name you nominate, and if you work through a sourcing agent or a buying office, we are used to that.

Your 30% deposit. The deposit covers material procurement and pattern development — it is spent on your order before a single seam is sewn, not held as factory overhead. If you cancel after fabric is committed but before cutting begins, we invoice only the material cost actually incurred. If we fail to begin production within the agreed timeline, the deposit is returned in full. We are happy to put these terms in your order confirmation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I order different modest categories on one purchase order?

Yes. Each style on the PO needs its own 50 pieces; there is no separate minimum for the order as a whole. Abayas, hijabs, burkinis, prayer sets, co-ords and activewear can sit on one — one shipment to clear, not several.

What is your minimum order quantity?

50 pieces per style and colour. Sizes mix freely inside that minimum — you are not ordering 50 of one size. Private label and gift packaging starts at 100 per style.

Can you produce from my own design and tech pack?

Yes — that is OEM production. Send the tech pack, measurement points and fabric specification and we develop the pattern and cut a proto. The design stays exclusively yours. We do not run it for another buyer, and we do not resell the pattern.

I don't have a tech pack. Can you still help?

Yes. Send a reference garment, or photographs plus the measurements you want, and our pattern department builds the specification with you. Or start from one of our 60+ existing blocks — the shorter route.

Do you charge a pattern fee, and do I get it back?

ODM and private label carry no pattern fee, because you work from a block we already own. OEM does: a one-off $80–250 per style to develop the pattern and cut the first proto, credited back once the style passes 300 pieces.

How many sample revisions are included?

Two rounds, free, with unlimited comments in each. That is enough for most styles — where a fit problem survives two rounds it is usually the brief rather than the pattern. A third round is charged at cost, typically $30–60.

Who owns the design and the pattern?

On OEM you do — exclusively, including the graded pattern set. On ODM the base block stays ours, but your version of it is not sold to another buyer as-is. On private label the base is shared. We will put it in writing.

How do I know the fabric will not be see-through?

Ask before bulk cutting, never after. Opacity comes from fabric, colour and garment length together — a weight number will not tell you. On swimwear the test has to be run wet; dry is not how the garment gets worn.

What is the difference between nida, crepe and jersey?

Nida is the default for closed abayas and prayer dresses: matte, fluid, wrinkle-resistant. Crepe has a slight texture and comes in grades, from standard polyester to Korean and Japanese. Jersey is a knit, so it stretches — it suits hijabs and loungewear, and behaves nothing like the other two on the line.

Can you do hand embroidery, beading and crystal work?

Yes, all three. Embroidery is stitched on a stabilised panel before assembly, then the panel is cut oversized and trimmed after — that is what stops puckering once the garment has been washed, and it is the step cheaper factories skip. Book 8–12 weeks ahead.

What are your sample and production lead times?

Sample in 7–10 days once your specification is confirmed. Start from scratch on OEM and add 2–4 weeks of development before that sample ships. Bulk runs 30–45 days from approval. Reorders on an archived spec run 15–20 days.

Do you ship DDP, and who pays the duty?

We quote DDP door to door with the import duty already inside the price, so there is no customs invoice to reconcile later. Import VAT depends on your destination and is confirmed on your quotation. If you would rather clear the goods yourself, we also work FOB and CIF.

Can you document fabric origin and show how our line is made?

Yes. The cotton we use comes from outside Xinjiang with traceable origin — the paper trail US importers need under UFLPA. We can also photograph and film your production run, so what you show customers is the line that actually made their dress.
