Who We Are — A Modest-Wear Factory, Not a Trading Company

ModestRise makes abayas, hijabs, khimars, prayer sets and modest sportswear in our own factory in Suzhou, China, for the brands, boutiques and wholesalers who put their own label on it. No broker, no second factory quietly doing the work — the building, the machines and the people are ours.

Our story

We started in 2016 with two sewing lines and one product: the plain closed abaya. An early order taught us the hard way that mixed dye lots ruin a garment a buyer never sees coming until it's on a body in daylight — so we went narrow instead of wide. Ten years later that's still the rule: modest wear only, nothing else on the calendar. We added headwear in 2018 and modest sportswear in 2021, each time because the skills from the first category carried over. Today about 70% of what leaves the building carries a customer's own label, not ours.

Capacity and equipment

The machine mix tells you what a factory can actually make. Here's ours by type.

EquipmentUnitsWhat it does

On a straightforward closed abaya, four lines produce 3,000–3,800 pieces a day — where the 90,000/month figure comes from. Hand embroidery is our real ceiling at 14 stitchers, which is why we ask buyers to book embellished work 8–10 weeks before Eid. We don't run a fabric mill, in-house printing or a dye plant — those are outsourced to partners we've used for years, and we tell you upfront rather than implying we're more vertically integrated than we are.

Quality system

Five checks gate our production, not a slogan:

  • AQL 2.5 final inspection, photographed — measurement, defect and packed-carton shots go to you before balance payment.
  • Three-point inline check at 30% completion — a fault caught here costs a day; caught at 100% it's scrap.
  • Single dye-lot cutting with a physical shade band you approve before we cut — the #1 cause of “looks like two colours indoors” is mixed lots, and it can only be prevented at the table.
  • Opacity testing in a daylight light box — the check most factories skip, and the one that matters most for modest wear.
  • Photographic record at every handover — cutting, 30% check, final inspection, packing.

If a lot fails, you choose rework at our cost or a credit — written into our sales agreement, not just a policy on this page — we never ship a failed lot and hope, and a failed lot never triggers a balance-payment request. Standard tolerance is ±1cm on flat measurements; we'll confirm tighter in writing if your market needs it.

Certifications and compliance

What matters isn't the logo, it's what it covers — three of these are facility-level and apply to everything we make; OEKO-TEX® and GRS are material-level and apply to fabrics that carry them.

CertificationScope
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100Fabric and trim, tested for harmful substances (available on request for specific fabrics)
GRS 4.0 (Recycled)Chain of custody for recycled and recycled-blend fabrics
BSCI (amfori) auditedSocial compliance — hours, wages, safety, no child or forced labour
ISO 9001:2015Quality management, documented process control and traceability
REACH compliantChemical restrictions for the EU market

Every order is traceable from fabric roll to export carton — fabric lot, inspection photos, approved sample and shade band, test reports and packing list, all filed against your account and retrievable years later.

Who we manufacture for

  • Modest fashion brands — 50–300 pcs/style, exclusive construction, mostly ODM moving to OEM by the second collection.
  • Wholesalers & distributors — 500–5,000 pcs/style, repeat-ordered; consistency matters more than novelty.
  • Online retailers & boutiques — 100–1,000 pcs, private label, packaging that survives a courier network.
  • Eid & seasonal collections — large single runs on a fixed date; book embellishment 8–10 weeks out.

How we work

  • We turn down work outside modest wear, even when it's large — it keeps the machine settings and QC standards calibrated to one product family.
  • If a sample doesn't pass, we don't scale it. We revise and re-approve first, even when that costs a week.
  • Our lead times are honest, not flattering — when we say 25–40 days, the 40 is the real end of the range for a complex style.
  • We tell you before we act if a fabric is short, a trim is discontinued, or a shade can't be matched — never a quiet substitution.
  • Sample fees are credited against production, and the pattern and spec stay yours even if you walk away after the sample.

Questions buyers ask about the factory itself

How do I tell you're a real factory and not a trading company?

Ask for a live video call and name the machine you want to see — a scheduled walkthrough, not a pre-recorded one. Ask for our BSCI report. A trading office can't do either within a day.

Can I visit or do a video tour before ordering?

Yes, either one, and we don't charge for it. Visits need about a week's notice; video calls run 30–45 minutes and you direct the camera to whatever you want to see.

Does a 50-piece MOQ mean low quality or leftover stock?

No — nothing we sell is bought-in stock. 50 per style/colour is the threshold where setting up a line and running a proper inspection makes sense, and a 50-piece run is made on the same machines as a 5,000-piece one.

What happens if the bulk order doesn't match the approved sample?

The AQL threshold and defect classification are agreed in writing before production starts. If a lot fails, you choose rework at our cost or a credit — written into our sales agreement, not just stated here — we never ship a failed lot or ask for balance payment on one. If a third-party inspection is required by your market or your buyer, we cooperate with the nominated agency and schedule it into the production calendar before the run starts — SGS, Bureau Veritas and Intertek have all inspected on our floor.

What are the payment terms?

30% deposit to start, 70% before shipment — and you see the inspection photos before the balance is due, not after. Bank transfer is standard; agents, escrow and LCs are fine with us.

How do you protect my design?

For OEM work, the design is exclusively yours for 12 months from your first order — written into the sales agreement, and we don't produce it, or any development of it, for another buyer in your country during that period. We'll sign your NDA, and recommend you register distinctive designs in your own market too.

What happens after the order ships — do you disappear?

No. Your sample, shade band, pattern and fabric lot records stay on file, so a reorder a year later matches the original and runs in 10–15 days instead of a full production cycle.
